Vitesse
Montrail Vitesse (Gull Grey/Blue) Men's: Originally designed as the shoe that the winner of the Western States 100 would wear start to finish, the Vitesse has remained unchanged in Montrail's line since 1996. Many people are devoted to this shoe. Karl Meltzer (winner of the last two Hardrock 100s) won't consider any other models. Nothing wraps my foot and gives me the kind of security that the Vitesse does. Rebecca Rusch (Team Montrail) prefers the Vitesse for multi-day adventure races it is the most comfortable over hundreds of miles of pounding and stays that way in wet and dry weather. Specifically, the Vitesse has a nice roomy toe box that keeps your toes happy through the day and night. The sole is extremely protective, so your feet won't tire from sharp rocks. And the stretch-bootie upper design comfortably supports and seals around the ankle. The Vitesse works well for medium and wide feet (although Karl's feet are very narrow) and is best suited for mild pronators. Reinforced toe box shields against rocks, roots and a variety of trail hazards. TerraFlex forefoot plate maximizes protection without compromising flexibility. Lateral outrigger delivers superior stability against turned ankles on uneven trail surfaces. Hydrophobic upper repels water and dries quickly after crossing streams. Single density Elon EVA midsole. FasTrax carbon rubber outsole. Shoe weighs 13 oz.

Traverse GTX
Montrail Traverse GTX (Bark/Earth) Men's: The Traverse GTX was modeled after the Torre, but designed to be lighter weight. Montrail reduced the weight by using a lightweight polyurethane in the midsole and substituted some of the upper leather for a nylon cordura. Since the boot is built on the same Integrafit last as the Torre and features many of the same design details, the fit is similar. Some people notice that the upper is not as supple as the Torre when it is new, but then find that it softens nicely with use and conforms to their feet. Use this boot for backpacking or day hiking. Being waterproof/breathable, it is suitable for a wide variety of conditions from dry heat to snow. GORE-TEX liner supplies waterproof protection with breathability. Fabric/leather upper and polyurethane midsole decrease total weight while maintaining durability and support. Vibram Talon outsole gives superior traction with minimal weight. Shoe weighs 1 lb 8 oz.

Tamarack
Montrail Tamarack (Walnut/Clay) Men's: When a leather shoe is supple, but wraps your foot snugly, it creates a sensation of support and control unlike other shoes. This is the feeling of the Tamarack. The upper leathers are so soft and well patterned that there are no pressure points, only support. And because leather allows some stretch and molding to your feet, this shoe accommodates a great range of foot types. The leather is also easily modified to address bunions and other issues you may have with your feet. The TerraFlex sole construction creates an ideal platform for off-road travel. The tread is aggressive and made with a sticky, non-marking rubber. The molded nylon plate provides the underfoot protection and torsional rigidity. And the polyurethane midsole is cushioned, but won't breakdown and compact over time. TPU plate like a trail runner, but stiffer for a more rigid platform. Single-piece outsole for optimal durability. Carbon rubber compound on the outsoles gives superior wet traction. Shoe weighs 16 oz.

Mojave XCR
Montrail Mojave XCR (Grey/Black) Men's: The Mojave XCR is built for protection from the elements as well as the off-road terrain, but uses advanced technologies to keep it light, cushioned, and very comfortable. The upper is extremely rugged and supportive, made entirely of non-wicking synthetics and GORE-TEX XCR. It's patterned around Montrail's IntegraFit last, for a unique fit that supports the arch and heel, but provides ample toe room. Fit is one of the main virtues of this model. The platform is the latest version of Montrail's TerraFlex technology. The three components sticky rubber outsole, torsionally rigid protection plate, and cushioning midsole combine to deliver a secure, performance ride. This design makes walking easier no matter what the surface, be it ice, mud, or pavement. A single-piece outsole for optimal durability. A carbon rubber compound on the outsoles gives superior wet traction.
