D7
Montrail D7 (Grey/Mustard) Men's: Winner of Climbing magazine's 2003 Editor's Choice Award for the best approach shoe. The D7 has a comfortable and precise fit, it edges extremely well and has a sticky outsole. That is pretty much what you want in an approach shoe. The fit comes from Montrail's IntegraFitTM last and you can immediately feel the good heel hold and arch support. However, Montrail modified the toe of the last to be lower volume and tapered for better control and edging. The midsole is a low-profile dual-density EVA that has been buffed on the edges to bring the outsole edge directly underneath the edge of your foot for better power and control. The outsole has two co-molded compounds: a non-marking sticky rubber from Vibram , called TC4+, in the forefoot for smearing traction, and a harder more durable Trek compound in the heel for descending traction and wear. Light, breathable and water-resistant synthetic suede upper creates a comfortable and conforming fit. Folded gusset tongue construction keeps debris out. Low-volume toe for better control. Shoe weighs 16 oz.

Traverse GTX
Montrail Traverse GTX (Bark/Earth) Women's: The Traverse GTX was modeled after the Torre, but designed to be lighter weight. Montrail reduced the weight by using a lightweight polyurethane in the midsole and substituted some of the upper leather for a nylon cordura. Built on the same Integrafit last as the Torre and features many of the same design details so the fit is similar. Use this boot for backpacking or day hiking. Being waterproof/breathable, it is suitable for a wide variety of conditions from dry heat to snow. Fabric/leather upper and polyurethane midsole decrease total weight while maintaining durability and support. Vibram Talon outsole gives superior traction with minimal weight. Shoe weighs 1 lb 3 oz.

Torre
Montrail Torre (Sand/Khaki) Women's: The Torre built its reputation on good fit. While the construction, materials, and workmanship are excellent, they are not radically different from other fine models on the market. What is radically different is the fit. The boot feels like it is shaped to your foot. The heel hold is firm, the arch is supported nicely, and there is plenty of room for your toes. Full-grain all-leather upper provides a superior fit and longevity. Multi-density Buffer Zone tongue diminishes lace pressure for added comfort. Full-length molded-nylon lasting board flexes comfortably with high-torsion control. Self-cleaning Vibram Explorer outsole gives excellent traction in all conditions. Shoe weighs 1 lb 6 oz.

Vitesse
Montrail Vitesse (Cement/Pacific Blue) Women's: Originally designed as the shoe that the winner of the Western States 100 would wear start to finish, the Vitesse has remained unchanged in Montrail's line since 1996. Many people are devoted to this shoe. Karl Meltzer (winner of the last two Hardrock 100s) won't consider any other models. Nothing wraps my foot and gives me the kind of security that the Vitesse does. Rebecca Rusch (Team Montrail) prefers the Vitesse for multi-day adventure races it is the most comfortable over hundreds of miles of pounding and stays that way in wet and dry weather. Specifically, the Vitesse has a nice roomy toe box that keeps your toes happy through the day and night. The sole is extremely protective, so your feet won't tire from sharp rocks. And the stretch-bootie upper design comfortably supports and seals around the ankle. The Vitesse works well for medium and wide feet (although Karl's feet are very narrow) and is best suited for mild pronators. Reinforced toe box shields against rocks, roots and a variety of trail hazards. TerraFlex forefoot plate maximizes protection without compromising flexibility. Lateral outrigger delivers superior stability against turned ankles on uneven trail surfaces. Hydrophobic upper repels water and dries quickly after crossing streams. Single density Elon EVA midsole. FasTrax carbon rubber outsole. Shoe weighs 11 oz.
